What facilities are there on the field?
There are plenty of tie-downs on the asphalt ramp, and chains are provided.
The field has runway lights and a beacon, which operate continuously from sundown to sunrise.
There is a port-a-potty. There's currently no telephone.
That's about it, for now.

Is there commercial air service into Seaside?
Not currently. There is on-demand charter service into Astoria, 10 miles to the north, but at present Seaside is primarily accesible only by private aircraft. You may be able to arrange a flight through a charter service such as Flightcraft or Hillsboro Aviation.

Are there any good places to eat close by?
Absolutely! Check out the Attractions section of this site.
Is there anything I should watch out for when landing at Seaside?
There are frequently planes transitioning up and down the coastline at or near pattern altitude, at all times of the year. 3 miles north of Seaside, there's a tethered para-sailing operation that operates up to 3000' altutude over the beach during the summer monthhs. There is a helicopter tour operator operating in the area. So stay alert, and announce your position and intentions on the CTAF (122.9) when you're in the area.

Deer and elk are a real hazard here, so be sure to keep an eye out, especially at night. Some local pilots are in the habit of doing a low pass before landing at dusk or nighttime. If you choose to do this, be sure to climb straight out to 1000' before turning, and use reduced power if possible, to minimize the noise impact on local residents.

Approaches are pretty clear, although the strip is rather short at 2360', and 50 feet wide, with trees adjacent that can make the winds tricky on short final, especially if they're crosswise to the runway (not an uncommon occurrence). Also the wind can sometimes show up as a crosswind on the ground, but be more from the north or south up higher. There are 3 windsocks, which are frequently blowing in different directions, although they ones on the end are pretty faded and not too easy to see from the air. A neat trick is to check one of the US flags on the hotels along the shoreline. If the windsocks are ambiguous, go by the flag.

Any tips on finding the airport?
The airport is small but pretty easy to spot. It's 3 miles north of Tillamook Head, a large headland that's about 10 miles south of the mouth of the Columbia river. Look for the estuary where the Necanicum river goes into the Ocean -- the airport is just inland of that (see the picture on the front page of the web site).
How busy is the airport?
Most of the time it's a pretty sleepy place, and if you're visiting midweek or in late fall/winter, you may well be the only airplane at the airport. During sunny summer weekends however it can become quite busy.
