11/6/2011: Work is well underway on the current infrastructure improvement project at Seaside airport.

The largest item is the drainage project, which was undertaken after an FAA sponsored study identified a number of deficiencies in the airport's aging drainage infrastructure. The project, split into two phases with the second phase to be completed in 2012, will replace failed pipe runs, and improve the slope and capacity of the system.

The existing fence will also be extended, to encompass the rest of the ramp area, improving security for transient and tenants alike, and a keypad-operated gate opener will be installed to improve security and access.

Also included in the project is a helicopter parking area, removal of obsolete tie-downs, and patching the fence-post holes left left over from when the old parking area fence was removed.

The project is 95% funded by FAA Airport Improvement grant funds with the remaining 5% coming from Connect Oregon III (lottery) funds. The work is being performed by local contractors.
