Driftwood season is here
11/4/2025: King Tides are here and with it comes what we call "driftwood season" at the airport. What that means is that due to its low elevation (essentially sea level) and proximity to tidally influenced waterways, portions of the airport can and often do experience flooding this time year.
City staff and volunteers endeavor keep the runway and taxiways clear, nevertheless pilots should use caution for driftwood and debris on airport surfaces, particularly at the south end. Increased bird activity is also present given the wet conditions.
If in doubt, contact the airport manager.
